Pen Type-A® by C.W. & T. is a precision-machined stainless steel pen, manufactured with care at a multi-generation machine shop in Vermont. Added to the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum in 2023, its deceptively simple form is the result of meticulous engineering. The pen is machined from a solid block, with deep cylindrical wells drilled using a specialized gun drill to create perfectly straight, precise interiors.

The pen slides neatly into its square sleeve and is held securely in place by a magnet. Removing it produces a subtle "pop" as the high-tolerance fit creates a pneumatic seal, much like a piston. Available in a classic engraved imperial and metric ruler. Truly the perfect pen.
